After 36 years’ service with The Royal Engineers, Fred Boucher retired in 2016.
“Whilst I had a fantastic and varied career in the Army - covering construction, bomb disposal, instructing and for the last 12 years in recruiting - my main skill is in organising events and activities,” he told us.
Fred now runs his own company called S.M.A.R.T Training & Leadership Limited and teaches many different subjects and also runs events.
“I enjoy being an Education Officer for Smallpeice because the work is very similar to my work as an Army Recruiter.
“My advice to any Student is that life sometimes throw's you ‘curve balls’, my example is that the people in Ukraine didn't expect to be where they are today a year ago ergo ‘don't put all your eggs in one basket’, get as many qualifications and experiences (good or bad as long as you learn lessons from both) and keep all your options open,” he added.
