The Smallpeice Trust has now launched our summer programme, offering 15 engineering-themed courses for students in Years 8 to 12. These online courses give young people the chance to find out more about different engineering careers, get hands on with interactive projects and learn live from industry experts and academics. COVID-19 means they’ll be virtual again this year, with kit being posted out to homes where needed.

The summer course programme is made possible by a wide range of partners from industry, academia, the public sector and charitable trusts. Many of the courses are led by Universities giving young people access to leading academics and ground-breaking research.

We are grateful to the many partners that support the programme and fund the courses or places for specific schools. This year we are able to offer a number of fully-funded places on the programme to students from non-selective state schools in certain areas, through the support of the following partners:

• South Wales Institute of Engineers Educational Trust (SWIEET) – Sponsoring 20 places for students in Wales on any course
• Kerrison Trust – Sponsoring 32 places for students in Norfolk and Suffolk on any course
• John Coates Charitable Trust – Sponsoring 10 places for students in Devon on any course
• Ove Arup Foundation – Sponsoring 16 places for students in Southampton, Portsmouth and London on the Future Cities course

With a shared vision for supporting young people from all backgrounds to thrive in education and achieve their full potential, The Smallpeice Trust is delighted to be able to share this opportunity. Places are available for non-selective state school students only and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis against certain criteria.
