GHD Foundation joins forces with Smallpeice Trust
The GHD Foundation has launched its first UK partnership with the Smallpeice Trust. With a focus on equitable access to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, the partnership better enables social mobility and gender diversity over two programmes.
GHD Foundation’s financial contribution will help the Smallpeice Trust to engage and support eight schools with limited socio-educational advantage across the UK to attend STEM “challenge days” with content developed and linked to the priority pillars of water, energy, and communities.
The partnership also provides a three-day residential programme with a mix of lectures, careers talks and hands-on team projects. The modules will include energy (including power generation, sustainability and utilities), civil engineering (including environmental, structural and transport) and robotics and programming (looking at automation, software and AI).
“By investing in these programmes, we hope to better support equitable access to STEM education for up to 500 young people across the UK, as well as connect our major partner GHD with the opportunity to support the great work of Smallpeice” said Jo Metcalfe, Managing Director, GHD Foundation.
"We are delighted to announce our collaboration with the GHD Foundation, a partnership that strengthens our commitment to empowering schools through direct and meaningful access to our diverse STEM initiatives. Together, we aim to inspire and support the next generation of innovators, fostering a future where education and STEM excellence go hand in hand." Said Helen Cuthill, CEO of The Smallpeice Trust.
