Paul graduated with a degree in engineering from Leicester University. After graduation for some years he was a research engineer designing automatic control and measurement systems for industrial machines.

Paul graduated with a degree in engineering from Leicester University. After graduation for some years he was a research engineer designing automatic control and measurement systems for industrial machines.

He then joined Shell as a project engineer designing and constructing offshore oil and gas production platforms. After 13 years with Shell he went on to work for International oil and gas companies as Project Director managing multidisciplinary engineering teams. There are now 4 production platforms still operating in the North Sea for which he was the Project Director leading teams from concept through design and construction to full production.

On retirement he was the Technical Director of a Canadian oil and gas company and has continued consultancy on project management of engineering projects.

He has been a trustee of the Smallpeice and Arkwright trusts since September 2012.

Paul learned to fly in 1982. He is now the Flying instructor of a Flying Training School and a Pilot Examiner for the CAA. As he says “it is good to have a hobby that I get paid for doing."
