With emerging technologies such as self-driving and electric vehicles and urgent challenges such as the climate emergency, civil engineers will play a key role in developing smart and sustainable cities of the future. In this course you will find out how civil engineers design and build environmentally-friendly infrastructure and also manage and maintain existing infrastructure, ensuring its future sustainability. By completing this course, you will learn how you can contribute to the society of the future as a civil engineer. This course is for Year 12 England and Wales, S6 Scotland and Year 13 Northern Ireland.

This unique learning experience will help to familiarise students with various career pathways into Civil Engineering and covers the built environment, water and waste engineering, transport, and energy systems. Students gain hands-on experience by building and testing infrastructure components and conducting small research projects as part of a team.
Each team will deliver a presentation summarising their experience and sharing their findings. Students will gain experience in a series of interactive sessions under the supervision of experienced academics from the University of Southampton.
