Glyn joined the Smallpeice Trust in 2003 as an Education Officer, running STEM Days, Residential Courses and developing new materials.
This was after he had served in the Army and worked for Alcatel Telcom, designing and engineering international fibre optic transmission networks.
After leaving the Trust as a full-time employee, he worked in school administration, but gave students the opportunity to investigate engineering careers, by bringing them on the residential courses that he was a supervisor on.
He now works for the Trust, again, delivering STEM activities and encouraging young people to consider engineering careers.
“The best part of working with young people is when the ‘lightbulb’ moment happens and things all drop into place,” he told us.
His advice to students: “Try everything that you can and ‘have a go’, even if you don’t enjoy something, you will have better knowledge to enable you to make more informed decisions and choices. “
