Smallpeice Trust Partners with Make UK and STR Group to Inspire Future Engineers
In celebration of National Manufacturing Day (26th September 2024), the Smallpeice Trust successfully partnered with Make UK and the STR Group to deliver immersive STEM days to year 8 and 9 students across the UK. These events aimed to inspire the next generation of engineers and innovators.
During these STEM days, students were introduced to the exciting world of Marine Technology. They engaged in hands-on activities, learned about engineering concepts and developed valuable skills that will benefit them throughout their academic and professional careers.
On 26th September 2024, students from St Edwards School visited the RNLI headquarters to take part in the Marine Technology STEM Challenge. As part of this unique experience, students designed and built their own boats, learning about the principles of buoyancy and the fundamentals of design. They also explored the importance of marine safety and environmental sustainability.
Meanwhile, students from Ferndown Middle School participated in the Marine Technology STEM Challenge at their school as part of the partnership.
The Smallpeice Trust is thrilled to be working with Make UK and the STR Group on this important initiative. The partnership is helping to bridge the gap between education and industry, providing students with valuable experiences and opportunities.
