What
A brand-new series of 30-minute livestreams, delivering exciting content direct to your classroom in a single lesson.
Inspired by our virtual STEM Days, students will learn from our expert Education Officers, as they take part in a brand-new engineering activity - building a Rubber Band Car!
Each session is mapped to the curricula of England and Wales, to ensure it is a valuable, educational opportunity for all students who take part.
Registration is now open. Sessions will run at 9:15, 10:15, 11:15, and 2:15 – all identical, all running for 30 minutes. Schools can join one or all sessions, giving even more students the opportunity to take part.
Activities require the following simple and readily available equipment and materials so that anyone can join and have everything they need to participate in just a few minutes:
• Wheels: bottle tops, cardboard circles, or even old CDs.
• Axles: chopsticks, straws, pencils, or cocktail sticks.
• Chassis: plastic bottle, lollypop sticks, pencils and cardboard (toilet roll tubes will do, but might need reinforcing).
• Rubber band: you can also use loom bands tied together.
• Tab on the rear axle: cardboard reinforced with tape, a small nail or screw.
Attaching the parts together can be achieved with a glue gun ideally, but if you don’t have one, tape will do.
